Who Does the Air Duct Cleaning and Who does the Work?Marc Metz personally cleaned the Air Ducts in over a 1000 homes in Indiana from 1995-2000. He sold that business which is still in business under new owners today in Northern “Michiana” Indiana. Marc moved his family here to Redding in 2000. Here in the North State he has cleaned many homes and business air duct systems [HVAC] which he started doing here in 2008 by re-adding it to his indoor environmental cleaning business services. Marc earned accreditation in Air Duct Cleaning in 1996 by ASCR Inter (Now RIA) by their Mechanical Systems Hygiene Institute located in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He keeps up with The National Air Duct Cleaners Association standards in air duct cleaning and dryer vents standards and has attended their annual National Convention. Marc is a member of the Indoor Air Quality and Air Duct Cleaning Assessment with LinkedIn Because of this indoor air quality training Marc became aware early of green cleaning and Indoor Air Quality way before many of his competition in the indoor cleaning trade here in Redding.
Why Clean Air Ducts?Think about this: Most people are meticulous about cleaning all of the rooms in their home. The air duct system in your home is like another room that HAS NEVER BEEN CLEANED! The air you are breathing flows over the interior surfaces of your duct system which can contain years of dust, pollen, pet dander and debris buildup. If you suffer from allergies, asthma, respiratory and/or sinus problems, the American College says that 50% of all such illnesses are caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air. If the air ducts in your home have never been cleaned, you could be breathing dirt and debris from years of build-up. Due to his own allergy symptoms Marc fully understands the need for not only cleaning textiles to remove allergens but also the HVAC system that breeds all kinds of contaminants and allergens making people sick because no one but a professional with the right equipment and training can clean the air ducts. Marc knows how to not only remove allergens but successfully neutralize them with specialized chemical treatments that don’t allow a reaction within the body from the allergen. (See our Anti –Allergen page for more info Not only has Marc fully learned the trade by cleaning 1000’s of home’s HVAC systems but has studied and passed testing to prove his knowledge and skill in this trade. He has purchased over $45,000 in air duct cleaning equipment to handle any type of job owning 3 different duct cleaning machine. He does not use his truck mount steam cleaning machine to clean air ducts.

Do you do an Inspection and Detect the Type of Dust or Need for Cleaning?Yes we do a pre-inspection of the air duct system as it really is very simple by a visual duct inspection by a mirror and flashlight. If you see the color of gray dust it is generally just regular dust build up in the system. If you see green dust it probably means pollen dust from nearby trees has contaminated the HVAC system. If you see orange dust it means nicotine smoke damage has collected in the system. If you see black dust it means filtration particulate from candle burning or a faulty gas fire place or wood burning stove is stuck in the sir duct system. If it is white dust it is probably from dry wall sanding from new or remodel construction. If you have floor registers and have animals you have pet dander issues and other possible urine and other contaminates falling into the floor vents and boot. We highly recommend vacuuming floor vents once a month or more. Are you dusting your furniture every other day? Is your home new or recently remodeled with dry-wall dust or flooring such as wood restoration? Then it is a good possibility that there is a substantial amount of dry-wall and construction dust in your duct work. We also determine what type of duct material you have. If it is metal ducting throughout your system and it has never been clean or was cleaned over 7 years ago you will need a duct cleaning. If you have flex ducting or plastic ducts and it has been well maintained with proper filters changed regularly chances are you won’t need a thorough duct cleaning maybe just the return air flow portion of the duct system.

How Do We Clean Air-Ducts?1. We first give a free inspection estimate in most cases to determine if you actually need this service. Many duct cleaners just come to do the service even though it is not needed and we call these unethical practices. Always get at least 2 -3 estimates and compare pricing and each ones cleaning process. It is a scrub and vacuum process simply stated. We want you to be educated in this new service. Most ducts don’t need cleaning for 7-10 years unless there are health issues with the occupants. In some cases we can show you with either our mirror or flash light your need for cleaning or for an additional fee we can video the inside of your duct system.
2. Next we arrive at scheduled day and time and set up our equipment. We use an outdoor portable vacuum capable of 6000 CFM air flow called The General
3. We then protect all your belongings with tarps.
4. Next we start our air compressor machine ( http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com/ ) to run our our Viper Wip System. The Viper Wip System scrubs gently [does not harm flex plastic ducts] the interior of the ducts where the dust and debris particulate is found then all lose particulate is extracted outside to our containment bag and bucket. See video http://www.ductcleanersupply.com/Products_Detail.php?ProductID=39. We clean flex duct, aluminum and metal ducting basically all types of ducting without harm.
5. We then vacuum, wash and clean and replace while in process the vents or registers.
6. Upon request we can supply air scrubbers that actually clean the indoor air many times an hour while we are cleaning. This service is at additional cost.
7. We chemically fog the ducts an optional service if wanted depending on the situation at hand as described below in After Treatments.
After Cleaning Air Duct treatmentsWe Offer Specialized Chemical Treatments For your Air-Duct System This after cleaning treatment covers 3 areas of concerns of indoor air quality still within the home or business. This treatment is sprayed into the HVAC system by a tool called a Fogger which mists the neutralizing chemical agent into the ducts. They are water based and non-toxic and environmentally safe to occupants.
3 Concerns in After Treatments Available That other Duct Cleaners Don’t Offer1. Bacteriostat - the chemical EnviroCon [http://www.bio-cide.com] is fogged into the ducts after cleaning for the purposes of being a germastat, deodorizer, bacteriostatic and fungistat This chemical destroys odors associated with bacteria, mold spores, mildew and animals. EnviroCon is a unscented and is not a perfume, cover-up or masking agent EnviroCON is a mild bacteriostat and fungistat that we use when the primary objective of the treatment is to remove odors associated with mold, mildew or bacteria. EnviroCON is unscented and is NOT a perfume, cover-up or masking agent. It works by oxidizing the causes of these odors, not by adding its own scent to the air coming from your ducts. EnviroCON is an effective bacteriostat and fungistat that inhibits the reproduction of odor-causing microorganisms such as mold and mildew. Its active ingredient is Chlorine Dioxide (0.1%). This product is completely safe for building occupants including children and pets. No evacuation is necessary during or after application. When the product dries completely (in an hour or two), there is almost no residue and what little is present is inert and has no further chemical action. However, please note that, even with a product as mild as EnviroCON, if you or other building occupants have a history of sensitivity to chemical treatments, it is wisest NOT to have us apply this treatment in your air ducts. 2. Nicotine- fogging a nicotine neutralizer (http://www.chemsolutions.net) A water based solution that is environmentally safe. 3. Allergens- Allergy relief treatment This fogged in chemical changes the shape( http://masterblend.net/component/k2/10) of allergen proteins such as pet dander, dust mite feces and pollen on contact making them unrecognizable to the body, which prevents them from causing an allergic reaction. It provides a residual effect for up to 6 months. In severe cases treatment reapplication may be required every 3 months.
